Pool Patrol has just completed its third very successful Certified Pool Operators Course.
The CPO Certification is an internationally recognized Pool industry qualification accredited by the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
The two-day course was attended by 16 employees from Boatswains Beach, Pirates Point, Sunset House, Morritts, Marriott Resort, Classique Pools, Camana Bay, Grand Cayman Beach Suites and Pool Patrol.
The certification program gives participants a better understanding of the operator’s role in pool care and management. The CPO handbook covers pool and spa chemistry, testing, treatment, filtration, maintenance, pool sizing, safety, in fact everything anyone involved with a pool or spa should know, states a press release.
Mike Shield owner of Pool Patrol stated that within 24 hours of the completion of the course he received several phone calls asking when the next course would take place as six persons wanted to participate. He will put on another course as soon as he has commitments from 20 people so if you have an interest in becoming a CPO give Mike a call at Pool Patrol to reserve a spot.
Mike added that with the increase in law suits in the USA resulting from pool related severe injuries or death, the DEH are beefing up their pool inspections and requiring pools be brought up to Caymans new tougher safety standards and codes.
Mike hopes that one day Government will mandate that everyone charged with the care of commercial pools must be a CPO, as every pool without one is a potential law suit waiting to happen. If you don’t know what you are doing around a pool you can seriously injure or kill yourself or a paying guest.
Mike advised that the study book and exam are available in Spanish, but until he becomes fluent in Spanish the lessons will continue to be in English!
