Museum shop is moving

The Cayman Islands National Museum Gift Shop will close at the end of June and re-open in its newly refurbished quarters at the Museum’s Harbour Drive location November 2008.

At that time it will operate from the site of the historic old post office formerly serving the entire Grand Cayman.

In anticipation of returning in November to its home at the National Museum, the Museum Gift Shop has announced a June-long, closing-out sale of selected Panton House inventory.

This will enable the gift shop to introduce a new line of souvenir merchandise when the shop re-opens on site in November. The new product line will offer everything from Caymanite to crystal, paintings, prints, puzzles and more. The gift shop will remain the sole authorised distributor for Cayman Islands flags and Coat of Arms plaques, as well as the flag of the United Kingdom.

As part of its new look befitting its new location in November, the Gift Shop will be more reminiscent of an old time general store through the use of a series of rustic barrels and mahogany trim on merchandise displays.

Visitor Services and Retail Assistant Alison Scott says that the shop’s Caymanite is among best quality and lowest prices on-island. ‘So customers already get the best deals in these and other items,’ says Ms Scott.

Shop hours are Mondays through Fridays, 9 to 5 pm.
