Island Living a success

The sixth annual Island Living Show saw thousands pack into the Family Life centre last Friday and Saturday to check out products available on island.

The show offered everything for the home and garden enthusiast, from home furnishings to landscaping services. There was even plenty for boating enthusiasts with Scotts Marine showcasing a wide variety of boats and trailers.

Exhibiters included Bon Vivant, Electra Tech, Reliable Irrigation and Landscape Services, Regal Video, Royal Bank of Canada, Rugs Oriental, Gawk and Leer, Creative Tech, Home Gas, Security Centre, Blue Eyes Granite, Mike’s Ice, Pool Patrol, the Observer on Sunday, OBM International and Noah’s Ark.

While inside guests were able to peruse the home and garden exhibits, outside there were a host of booths offering lip-smacking local fare, while steel drum trio the Pierre Family, kept the atmosphere upbeat with live performances throughout Saturday. In addition, local charities the Cayman Islands Humane Society and the Cayman Islands Red Cross drummed up support at the event.

Tempting visitors to the show was the chance to win one of 10 pairs of Cayman Airways tickets and a host of prizes and giveaways from exhibitors. Admission was just $2, with all proceeds going to the Cayman Islands Red Cross.

Organised by Cayman 27 the popular event has become a mainstay on the Cayman Islands calendar.

Shawn Wilcox, general sales manager at Cayman 27 said some 2,500 people attended the event.

‘The show was an overwhelming success in part because of good organization and promotion, depth and creativity by the exhibitors and of course, a little help from Mother Nature.’
