Cuffy’s so fast

The Cayman Islands team has been competing at the Central American and Caribbean Track and Field Championships in Cali, Colombia.

Rain delays put back arrival arrangements for many of the 43 countries participating.

The only Cayman competitor on the first day was Tyrell Cuffy, who put together three highly consistent rounds in the 100m of 10.34, 10.46, and 10.41 seconds to finish in a tie for fifth and earn the Cayman crew’s only point.

Cuffy tied his own national record of 20.83 seconds in the heats of the 200m, and the semi-final round his 20.97 seconds was two one-hundredths seconds shy of the time achieved by the last qualifier for the final.

Ronald Forbes faced off against a number of his probable opponents at Beijing, as he placed sixth in the final of the men’s 110 metres hurdles in a time of 13.71 seconds, as he surpassed the Olympic B qualifying standard for the second time.
