Mr David Burkart will speak to The CFA Society of the Cayman Islands 29 July.
Mr. Burkart is a senior portfolio manager and strategist with Barclays Global Investors in San Francisco, California, where he leads BGI’s marketing, portfolio management and investment research for institutional and retail commodities-related products in the Americas and Asia.
He will be discussing his view that the inclusion of commodities in a portfolio context can reduce risk by acting as a powerful diversifier while maintaining an expectation for reasonable long-run returns. He will walk through the various ways that commodities provide diversification, not just against other asset classes but also over the course of the business cycle. He will also look at possible practical ways of implementing a commodities strategy within investors’ portfolios.
The CFA Society of the Cayman Islands will host Mr Burkart at Guy Harvey’s Island Grill between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, 29 July. Tickets for the event are $25 for members of the CFA Society of the Cayman Islands and $30 for non-members, payable in advance, which includes a welcome drink and canapés. Those interested in attending should contact Mr Mark Fagan, CFA, President, CFA Society of the Cayman Islands on 815-7537 or by email at [email protected] for further information.
