A woman who died riding as a passenger on a motorcycle after the vehicle hit a concrete wall in George Town late Sunday night has been identified.
She is 31-year-old Tabia Sharisa Henriques-Bodden, of George Town.
The man driving the Kawasaki 750 was hospitalised at press time with serious injuries, but hospital officials listed him in stable condition.
Accident investigators were still on the scene of the wreck early Monday morning. It appeared the motorcycle lost control going north-bound around a curve on South Church Street near the Windsor Village and Palm Springs complexes.
Residents at the Palm Springs complex said they heard the impact from the crash around midnight.
Investigators said it appeared the motorcycle struck the waist-high fence, sending the female passenger sprawling into the road.
Neither the driver, nor the passenger was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The 31-year-old woman is believed to be the seventh person who has died so far this year on Cayman Islands roads.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who believes they saw the Kawasaki before the wreck is asked to call the RCIPS Traffic Management Unit at 946-6254, or Sergeant Ivan Wedderburn at 916-3871.
