CITN deserves gold medal for its coverage

Television station CITN is the official broadcaster of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad for the Cayman Islands.

CITN inked the deal with Caribbean Media Corporation providing local viewers with more than 100 hours of Caribbean coverage of the Beijing Games.

These broadcasting rights mean that everyone in Cayman has the opportunity to watch Caymanians Brett Fraser, Shaune Fraser, Ronald Forbes, and Cydonie Mothersill in action. Also all the top stars will be on view, including Jamaica-born USA 400 metres gold medal favourite Sanya Richars.

In addition to covering events featuring Caribbean athletes, CMC will broadcast opening and closing ceremonies, daily highlights, interviews and analysis, as well as popular events such as football and boxing.

Coverage begins on Friday with the live broadcast of the opening ceremony at 6:30am on Island 24.

Daily programming can be viewed on either Island 24 or Cayman 27 and will include live coverage and replays later in the day.

Three broadcasts can be seen daily from 5am to 9am, 4pm to 6pm, and 9pm to 12am with minor adjustments to ensure coverage of events featuring Caribbean athletes.

News 27 Sports will also feature updates on Caymanian and Caribbean athletes Monday through Friday during the 6’o’clock news and vigilant viewers will have the chance to win prizes on Daybreak the following morning for answering questions related to the previous evening’s story.

CITN’s broadcasts are made possible by gold sponsor: Digicel, silver sponsors: Cayman Islands Complaints Commission, Coldwell Banker Cayman Islands Realty, Elite Marble and Granite, Ignition, Maples and Calder.

The bronze sponsors are: Bodden Beverages, Butterfield Bank, Creative Tech, Chevrolet, Island Cleaners, and Mourant.
