Local Cayman-based fashion designer Tigerlily Hill will be competing against some of Hollywood’s up-and-coming stylists on the latest reality series to screen on cable channel VH1.
Glam God, hosted by film and television actress Vivica A. Fox, will air for eight weeks as the show searches for the person who has what it takes to be a visionary in fashion trends. Some 12 competitors, including Tigerlily, will live and work together as they compete head-to-head in pop culture and red carpet challenges to prove they have the fashion know-how to be a celebrity stylist.
The first Glam God aired yesterday, Thursday, at 10pm.
Tigerlily graduated from Cayman Islands High School and Central St. Martins in London and has since forged a name for herself as a successful fashion designer with her label Crown Atelier. The Cayman-inspired fashion label has been worn by the likes of Nicole Richie, Kiera Knightley, Hilary Duff, Taryn Manning and Rachel Bilson, and her designs are stocked in upmarket boutiques across the US as well as select outlets of Macy’s.
Guided by various fashion and beauty industry heavyweights the contestants are thrown into A-list celebrity style dilemmas, where they have to rely on their style skills to solve them. Each week, their mission will be to create the perfect look from head to toe. The challenges are layered to test the stylists’ ability to oversee an entire look that includes hair, makeup and wardrobe.
The grand prize is the opportunity to launch their careers by styling an A-list celebrity and US$100,000.
Although Tigerlily, a.k.a Tamara, is unable to reveal if she garnered the grand prize, she said the show offered an amazing opportunity.
‘People can really see me in my element during Glam God. It has been a great experience and unquestionably it has helped me gain notoriety in my styling career. Already I am getting phone calls so it has definitely been a good thing.
‘Filming the show was great fun and all the contestants were full of character. Everyone was really great. But, I can’t say much else. You’ll have to watch it for yourself.’
Glam God airs every Thursday, 10pm on cable channel VH1.
