Agape camp was kickin’

The Agape Family Worship Centre’s Summer Football Camp culminated recently with an exciting football match between the children and the adults.

The camp, which began on 5 July and ran for eight weeks at the Agape Field, was organised by William ‘Billy’ Humphreys, a FIFA referee and member of the Agape Church.

Approximately 40 children aged between six and 15 participated in the camp each Saturday morning, where they were taught the fundamentals of football such as ball control and passing.

Humphreys and his four assistant coaches also emphasized the importance of discipline, good sportsmanship and team spirit.

The day included a match between the younger kids and the teens but the highlight was the much-anticipated match-up between the children and adults, whose struggles to keep up with the energetic youngsters provided much entertainment for the spectators.

In the end, and not surprisingly, the children emerged victorious 2-1. The adults were more than happy to settle for their one goal as it meant the end of the torture.

An award ceremony was held immediately after the matches where all of the children received trophies for their participation.

The coaches were also honoured as were the four main sponsors of the camp, McCormick Global Ingredients Ltd, Bodden Beverages, Welly’s Cool Spot and Mrs. Reina Ebanks.

The Agape Family Worship Centre Summer Football Camp is held each year and is open to boys and girls. For more information call Billy Humphreys on 916-1966
