Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman top spot

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is the No. 1 resort in the Caribbean, according to Condé Nast Traveler readers.

The Grand Cayman resort was announced in the top spot for its category at the annual Readers’ Choice Awards presentation last week in New York City.

Mr. Bruce Himelstein, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company accepted the award on behalf of the hotel.

The 21st annual Readers’ Choice Awards highlights the top destinations, lodgings and modes of transportation in the world that manage to exceed readers’ expectations.

According to Condé Nast website concierge.com, where the results are posted, 32,633 readers participated in the annual survey. The magazine readers are described as ‘passionate travellers for whom no island is too remote, no city too challenging, no hotel too untested.’

Coming second to the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, in a list of the top 25 Caribbean resorts, was Curtain Bluff, Antigua, followed by Petit St. Vincent Resort, Grenadines; Hotel Guanahani, St Barts; and Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain, St. Lucia.

In another category, the top Caribbean/Atlantic hotel, Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France, St Barts took the top spot, followed by two more St. Barts properties: Eden Rock and Le Toiny.

The top 10 Caribbean/Atlantic Islands were, in this order: Bermuda, St. John, St. Barts, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Nevis, St. Lucia, Vieques, Barbados, St. Martin/St Maarten.
