Joaquin Bacardi III, president and CEO of Bacardi Corporation and great, great grandson of founder Don Facundo Bacardi will visit Grand Cayman during the upcoming Taste of Cayman Food and Wine Festival.
Mr. Bacardi will be accompanied by a contingent of Bacardi’s top Caribbean executives to attend the first Taste of Cayman Charity Wine Dinner on Thursday at Luca restaurant where Bacardi will unveil the premiere of their newest and most exclusive rum, Bacardi Reserva Limitada.
Individually bottled, numbered and packed by hand, this exclusive rum is referred to as the ‘founder’s blend,’ consisting of the finest Bacardi rums that have been resting in American oak barrels for 10 and 16 years with an average of 12 years and results in an extraordinary, deep golden hued rum with dark reddish undertones and exquisite aromas of vanilla, oak, and dried fruits.
‘Reserva Limitada lets the public and rum connoisseurs alike know that Bacardi not only has the capacity but the knowledge to produce a super premium brand of this calibre in Puerto Rico for the world,’ Bacardi said.
‘It is rum with great craftsmanship that has been carefully elaborated by our very own Grand Master of rum, Luis Planas, to achieve a perfect balance between young spirits and aged ones. It’s our way to thank our Caribbean customers.
Maggie Matías, Bacardi vice president and managing director, who will also be attending the premiere said: ‘We’re thrilled with the launching of Reserva Limitada. It is a real accomplishment for Bacardi. From a marketing perspective, it will be treated as a very exclusive, high-end product, available only at our Visitors’ Center in Puerto Rico and in the Caribbean for our AAA clients and the finest restaurants. Certainly the prestigious island of Grand Cayman is a top market for this special rum and we’re looking forward to our visit this week and to the premier of Reserva Limitada at the Taste of Cayman event.’
Hugh Treadwell, managing director of Cayman Distributors and Blackbeard’s Group, local distributors for Bacardi said, ‘Bacardi is incredibly popular in the Cayman Islands already and in the brief time since its introduction, Reserva Limitada has received numerous awards in international competitions and we honoured to be chosen as a selected distributor and retailer. There’s no question that Cayman is a sophisticated rum island and this exclusive rum will impress everyone lucky enough to have some. Also, for us to have Joaquin and his top management team visit for this important premiere and to attend the Taste of Cayman Food and Wine Festival sends a great message to everyone on the island and to all of us at Cayman Distributors and Blackbeards!’
In addition to the Reserva Limitada premiere as part of the First Annual Taste of Cayman Wine Dinner, an exciting Bacardi Mojito Bar will also be unveiled as part of the new Gardenia Court Lounge at Taste of Cayman on Saturday. Presiding over this exclusive bar is Bacardi’s top Mojito Mixologist, Jorge Lopez. Jorge has performed all over the world and is widely recognised as one of the foremost authorities on the Mojito. He will be showcasing the traditional Bacardi Mojito as well as a whole assortment of diverse and unique flavour interpretations.
General Manager of the Blackbeard’s and Cayman Distributors Group, Mat Bishop said, ‘Bacardi is great partner and has really stepped out to help make this year’s new Taste of Cayman as unique and exciting as possible. We really hope these new directions will help develop Cayman as a food and wine destination and more importantly to help Taste of Cayman raise as much money as possible for charity.’
