Movember, the month formerly known as November, is once again looming on the calendar and with it comes moustache mania in the Cayman Islands.
Movember is a month-long event that began in Australia to raise awareness of men’s health issues, particularly prostate cancer. The organising committee is putting out a call for all males in the Cayman Islands to grow a moustache during the month.
At the start of Movember, all participants must register with a clean shaven face. Registration begins Saturday at 7pm at Coconut Joes. Members of the Cayman Islands National Women’s Rugby Team will be on hand to shave participating gentlemen ensuring they are free of facial hair on Movember 1st.
Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo, and preparing to do battle for the coveted Man of Movember title at the end of Movember. During the month there will be an opportunity for Mo Bros to get together, compare moustaches and size-up the competition at special Movember events. They also have the month to raise funds for their moustache growing efforts through sponsorship from their friends, colleagues and employers. All funds raised during the month are donated to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society to raise awareness of prostate cancer issues.
Everyone is invited to Coconut Joes for the launch of Movember. There will be drink specials all evening courtesy of Cayman Distributors.
