David Bridgeman is the artist behind this year’s Cayman Islands Cancer Society Christmas cards.
The prolific artist has designed three cards for the society based on the theme of the Christmas tree, which he believes is an important symbol of the Christmas season.
Bridgeman says, growing up in England his family did not always have a tree, often just tinsel served as decoration. The trees in the cards depict those real and tinsel trees. Two of the cards are reminiscent of Christmas in the Cayman Islands. The third card, a single Christmas tree, is very childlike in colour and design and summarises his early recollections of the tree and the simple way that children record their interpretations.
The Christmas cards are sold in packs of 12 – four of each design – at a price of $12. They are available from the Cayman Islands Cancer Society office on the ground floor of the MCR Building on Eclipse Drive (beside the Television Centre).
Bridgeman, who is originally from Oxford, England, has lived in Cayman since 1987. He has held numerous solo shows and participated in a number of group exhibitions. His work is on show throughout the month of November at Full of Beans, Passadora Place on Smith Road.
