‘In spite of the challenging weather conditions, we still managed to raise a respectable amount and it was inspiring to once again witness the generosity of Cayman’s community – we are always delighted by the willingness of residents to show their support and reach in their pockets for a worthy cause,’ commented dms Social Committee Member Naomi Mitten.
Tickets were sold in advance amongst dms’ 175 employees for $5. For residents who showed up on the day of the event, cars were washed for free in hopes of receiving a donation. Volunteers posted themselves at vantage points surrounding the entrance to Royal Palms as they urged passers-by to take advantage of a complimentary car wash and solicited donations from those whose schedules did not permit the time to stop, but still wished to make a contribution.
‘We were pleasantly surprised by the number of generous donations which we received from passers-by who did not have the time to stop, but still showed their support in making a contribution. Ultimately, the success of events such as this, rely on the charitableness and kind-heartedness of the local community,’ added Naomi.
Volunteers sported their dms shirts with a team spirit to match.
‘The enthusiasm and energy of all who volunteered was riveting and it was a very rewarding experience. We would also like to thank Ambassador Enterprise Ltd. for donating eco-friendly soap for the car wash – ideal for paying homage to our Go Green commitment,’ added Naomi.

‘It is an honour to support such a worthy organization which is integral to demonstrating our continued commitment to give back to the local community. We could not think of a more deserving recipient than supporting the admirable work done by the missionaries of the Sunrise Adult Training Center,’ commented dms Social Committee Leader Breanne Byrne. ‘We are grateful to the determination and dedication of our team in raising these funds, and we recognize that we could not be successful without the overwhelming support of the wonderful people of Cayman and their strong community spirit.’
