Scotiabank helps Cayman Brac

Twelve Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd. employees recently visited Cayman Brac to help clean up in Northeast Bay, Watering Place and West End.

During only one day, they were able to assist four families clean up their homes after Hurricane Paloma.

Everyone on the team who volunteered had experienced Hurricane Ivan and remembered how much assistance was needed to help the community recover.

Scotiabank employees are also donating over CI$5,000 from their personal funds which will go towards the recovery fund for the Sister Islands.

Mahesh Nagendram, Manager Finance and Administration, said: ‘The experience has been one of the most memorable and rewarding days for me. The people of the Brac were so appreciative and kind to us and they touched all of our hearts.’

Farried Sulliman, Managing Director also expressed his appreciation to the group for their community spirit. ‘I am impressed with what this small group was able to accomplish in one day. Sheena Bodden (nee Scott) has been instrumental in organizing this effort and representing the Bank to our customers in the Brac. She has also worked tirelessly in helping her fellow Brackers since Paloma struck the island.’

Another volunteer group is being organized for 6 December.
