Cay Sox were great

The Cay Sox Team Under-11 travel team recently returned from Florida after participating in a Thanksgiving Classic Baseball Tournament.

The team was selected to represent Cayman, an excellent opportunity and benefit to these players as it gave them the chance to compete and improve their talents.

Head coach Stuart Knox said: ‘It is the first time that these guys played against another U-11 team overseas.

‘The competition was fierce because these teams play ball all year and losing is not an option for them.

‘We had some solid pitches, awesome hits, and a great team effort coupled with a lot of fun. The tournament is an unmatched experience and the boys enjoyed it.’

Both the team and coaches diligently worked from September making every effort to perfect their game for the tournament and the Cay Sox team members hope that they will unite again for another travel tournament soon.

Coach Knox said: ‘Travel tournaments are essential; however costly so the team would like to thank Esso Standard Oil for its sponsorship and all the folks that donated to the Team’s Trash Clean A-Thon to raise money for the trip and uniforms.’

The Cayman Islands Little League opens its season for all kids in February, so the Cay Sox guys will be separated into mixed teams, and they will participate in the regular league. The CILL is an excellent program,me a great team building activity and kids from ages 5-14 are welcome to join.
