Bad timing

Hmm, let’s see. The Cayman Islands Investment Bureau’s plan of action is to convince production companies to ship millions of dollars of film equipment across the Gulf of Mexico to the most expensive island in the Caribbean to shoot interior and exterior shots that replicate Anytown, USA.

All this in the middle of a depression that has left majority of SAG and DGA members out of work. That doesn’t seem very well thought out to me. How about simply starting a film school?

The success of movies like Slumdog Millionaire is a testament to the irrelevance of Hollywood production companies to the successful growth of local film industries. Surely if the Nigerians can figure this out, why not good ole Grand Cayman?
