Fourteen staff members who made outstanding contributions to the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority during 2008 were honoured recently at the Authority’s annual staff awards ceremony.
Business Analyst Russell Haley of the Information Systems Unit received the Managing Director’s Leadership Award and the CIMA Spirit Award.
During 2008, Mr. Haley was instrumental in revitalising CIMA’s social committee, and served as its chairman. The honours were also in recognition of his commitment to achieving CIMA’s mission, and outstanding performance in carrying out his duties.
The Rookie Award went to Human Resources Assistant Kimari Fletcher-Barrett for significant contribution to the organisation during her first year of employment.
Mrs. Fletcher-Barrett was recognised for not only carrying out her assigned duties but always assisting in other areas and for her concern for her co-workers.
The CIMA Mentoring Award, for the person who significantly motivates, guides and assists co-workers to improve performance, was presented to Banking Supervision Division Chief Analyst Ryan Bahadur.
Another Banking Division Chief Analyst, Cesar Martinez, received the Most Innovative Award for initiatives such as developing new forms to enhance data collection from licensees.
Mr. Martinez is a member of the special CIMA team which is responsible for preparing for the implementation of the Basel II capital adequacy framework for Cayman-licensed banks.
Accounts Officer Miguel Sobrado won the Customer Service Award for going beyond the call of duty to provide responsive service to CIMA’s licensees and other external customers as well as to staff internally.
The Team Award went to the Compliance Division, which includes Head RJ Berry, Deputy Head Audrey Roe, Chief Analyst Russ Panton, Senior Analysts Kim McLaughlin, Tara Parsons and Joelee Powell, and Analysts Cindy Grant, Roshenara Khan and Wendy Maraugh.
All awards, except the MD’s Leadership Award, are determined by a panel of judges representing all CIMA divisions. They make their selections from among nominees which staff members submit in each category.
The recipient of the MD’s Leadership Award is selected by the Managing Director.
