Local heroes to speak at Books & Books

Marilyn Conolly, Susan Barnes and Yentel McGraw will be the guest speakers at the Evening of Heroes event to be held at Books & Books in Camana Bay on Monday, 9 March from 7pm.

This free event is a part of Honouring Women Month in the Cayman Islands.

Ms Conolly is managing director of her consulting company, Innotiva and has served as a senior policy advisor to six government ministers and five chief officers.

She has also worked with the Vision 2008 ‘Family’ Roundtable, the CI Crisis Centre Board of Directors, Rotary Sunrise, United World Colleges, her local Neighbourhood Watch and the Cayman Islands Human Rights Committee.

Currently, she is working with the Commonwealth Foundation and is vice-chair of the Estella Scott-Roberts Foundation.

Ms Conolly was also a finalist for the 2009 Young Caymanian Leadership Award.

Susan Barnes is the owner and director of Barnes Dance Academy Limited and is also a founding member of the Cayman Islands National Dance Company, Dance Unlimited.

Her most recent awards include Best Presenter in the Arts at the 2006 Young Entrepreneur’s Symposium and the 2007 Gold Awards from the International Celebrity Dance Championships. She was a finalist for the 2008 Young Caymanian Leadership Award.

Mrs. Barnes is also a cancer survivor.

Ms McGraw was Miss Teen Cayman Islands 2007-08 and Miss Teen Worldwide Caribbean 2008.

During her reign she founded the Youth Community Excellence Award.
