We have long felt that critical issues like the management of head injuries, myocardial infarctions and strokes need good solid policies that deal with the treatment of these life threatening emergencies in the absence of specialists like neurosurgeons, cardiologists and neurologists, in our healthcare setting.
I hope this is recognised and action is taken.
Moreover, I believe that when the HSA cannot provide a service it is a mandatory duty of care that they look elsewhere outside of their system to help provide that service to the patient.
The HSA has always had all our support and we need urgent action on these important issues.
