Former Head of Insurance of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority Morag Nicol has returned to the position in an interim capacity while the authority recruits a replacement for Albert Smith who vacated the post mid-March.
Mrs. Nicol worked with the authority from 1998 to 2007 before leaving to spend more time with her family. Mr. Smith, meanwhile, is leaving Cayman after a year’s service.
Mrs. Nicol came to the authority in 1998 with 10 years experience in the UK and Cayman insurance industries.
She is a chartered insurer, an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a certified fraud examiner and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and statistics.
The authority’s public relations officer Gayle Alleyne said a permanent insurance chief would be installed shortly.
‘After an extensive search locally and internationally,’ she said, ‘the authority is in the final stages of recruiting a new head of insurance.’
