No way Jose as Home Gas fuelled up

It has been a good year for Home Gas.

They have fielded a winning team as usual this season and recently staged a dramatic title defense.

On Monday Home Gas beat a strong Jose’s Escape team 22-18 to win the A league of the Winter Adult Co-ed Softball League.

The bats got going early and never cooled down. Both teams came out slugging and both defenses would have to stay sharp.

However Home Gas got in a rhythm early and kept pushing runs home. In no time there would be plenty of runs on the board.

Among the stars for Home Gas on the night were Johnnie Johnson Jr., Marlon Thomas and Dionne Whittaker.

All did very well with the bats in their hands, driving pitches deep to the outfield. Johnson and Thomas showed good base running as well and played solid defense.

Jose’s Escape would counter with a notable duo in Al Lovinggood and Jordan Hartmann. Lovinggood held his own on the mound and put in some decent at-bats. Hartmann meanwhile, no stranger to local baseball, showed off his fast pitch background with powerful hitting and a strong arm in the field.

Coming into the match Home Gas (last year’s A league champ) finished second in the Breadfruit division going a solid 7-5 due in large part to the A league’s best defense which allowed just 118 runs.

As one of the top seeds in the playoffs they got a first round bye. From there they took out KM Ltd 14-3 to make it to the finals.
