Jose’s edge up

Jose’s Escape Pirates managed to win their double header on Sunday and move closer to the first place in the softball male division.

They first faced the powerful Old Providence team who are presently leading in the standings.

However, Old Providence could not hold on to the flare of Pirates bats.

Johnny Johnson Sr. Alfred Flowers, Didier and Yarion were instrumental in Pirates victory. Rodolfo Whittaker Sr. held his ground by only allowing Old Providence 5 runs whilst his team Pirates scored 15 runs.

Latinos would not go down without a fight against Pirates in the second game of the evening. Jose’s Escape Pirates were down by 3 runs in their last at bat; however, pitcher Rodolfo Whitaker Sr. led the inning with a hit and scored by a hit of Johnny Johnson Sr. Alfred Flowers also got on base safely which then brought up Didier to the plate. Didier wasted no time and hit a monstrous home run taking Jose’s Escape to their 15 – 14 victory.

In the female division, CADC Stingers beat CNB Rangers by a one run margin. This victory puts Stingers nearer to the first place spot which is held by Rangers.

National Concrete Challengers were toe to toe with Deutsche Bank Wildcats for 4 innings with great pitching by Kathline Rankin of Challengers. However, Wildcats bats came alive later in the game and got the victory 14 – 6.

Cayman Islands Softball Association will be hosting a major tournament September 4 – 7 with female and male teams visiting from Florida, New York, Washington, California and Nicaragua.
