Spicy Greenies too hot for Esso

Greenies Spice won their first match in the British American Insurance Women League and what a victory it was. ESSO Panthers batted first and scored 134 runs for 2 wickets.

Desrene Cox 41 not out top scored for the Panthers. Greenies Spice opening pair of Wiki Hitchman and Carmel Harms displayed excellent discipline in their approach and paced their way to a record of 135 runs for no wicket and gave their fellow players and supporters much to celebrate.

It was a double celebration for Greenies as at the Smith Road Oval the Greenies 1 team defeated ESSO Tigers by 64 runs in the penultimate round in the CLICO CAYMAN Division 1 setting up a big finale with Prison.

Greenies 1 playing a positive brand of cricket scored 191 runs with Sam Neveling 38, Tom Stephens 29 and Faisal Ahmad 22n.o leading the way. Ryan Bovell took 4 wickets for ESSO Tigers.

The Tigers had no answer for the Greenies attack and folded for 127 runs. Andrew Ledger and Paul Hogg took 3 wickets each for the winners.

Who will be crowned Division 1 League champions this year? The question will be answered on Sunday at the Jimmy Powell Oval when Prison clash with Greenies. Both teams on 25 points have played undefeated making this match the one to see.

In the CLICO CAYMAN Division 2 victories were recorded by Cayman Brac against LIONS with Steve Coates scored a century for Cayman Brac, JJ’S had a convincing victory against Greenies TOO and Pro Plus defeated Wellys/Cayman Doors.
