For the longest time I’ve been meaning to write this letter, but now I have personal reasons to do so.
Two days ago my son was involved in an accident that was caused by someone recklessly pulling out in front of traffic from across from Calico Jacks.
Anyone who travels by there during a cruise ship day sees the problem: buses double parked, making u-turns and people pulling in and out from the parking lot across the street. Add to that tourists walking down the road and it will not be long before someone is either seriously injured or killed.
I know that everyone has to make a living, from the drivers to the produce vendor, but either the Taxi Association or the police – or both – need to make an effort to protect both drivers and pedestrians at this location.
I call on the police and the Taxi Association and the government to come up with a plan.
