There will be two innovations at the mixed martial arts bill at King’s Sports Centre tomorrow.
For the first time a championship belt will be awarded and the FAST Defense team will give a demonstration.
Both ideas come from karate instructor Bob Daigle who is the Caribbean director of Fear Adrenal Stress Training.
‘In all my 24 years living here in Cayman I’ve never known of any belt being given out in any combat sport,’ Daigle said.
‘This belt will go to the winner of the welterweight bout between Floyd Moxam and Ronny Carroll. It’s over five, three-minute rounds and the outcome will come either by decision, knock out or submission.
‘The belt is sponsored by FAST Defense and our goal is to have more belts in other weight classes so that there are more champions who can defend their titles. This will raise the level of fights because champions will want to defend their titles and stay undefeated.
‘The FAST demo is going to be really special too.’
Other brilliant matches include Ryan McMahon against Ishmail DaSilva, Omar Dixon against Yeudi Urena, Leith Bodden faces Jermaine Ebanks, Garret Curran takes on Sebastian Deroy and Jon Roscoe against Jessie Ronson.
