Mixed martial arts fans got their first treat in a year with Proving Ground V on Saturday.
The only championship fight on the night was the grudge match between Scotsman Ronny Carroll and Cayman’s Floyd Moxam for the welterweight title.
Sponsored by FAST Defense’s Bob Daigler, Carroll promised not to have to rely on the judges’ scorecards for victory and he was true to his word.
The schoolteacher gave Moxam a stern lesson in ground fighting to force a stoppage in the second round at a packed house at the King’s Sports Centre.
Carroll fights for the Team Ironshore team and it certainly was a collective effort witnessed by the jubilation afterwards.
In the joint main event Todd ‘The Anger’ Stewart gave a masterful performance to uanimously outpoint a brave but outclassed Peter ‘Lightning’ Lewison in the fight of the night.
Ishmail DaSilva outpointed Ryan, Omar Dixon outpointed Yeudi Urena, Sabastian Deroy stopped boxer Dariel Ebanks in the first round and Leith Bodden stopped Jermaine Ebanks in two rounds.
