The Cayman Islands won its first medal at the CAC Championships in Cuba on Saturday in the Men’s Long Jump. Carlos Morgan won a silver medal when he placed second with a leap of 7.87 metres. The Bahamas won the gold and bronze medal.
In the men’s 4x100m Cayman placed fifth in the finals and set a new national record of 39.54 seconds. Trinidad & Tobago won the gold, Jamaica silver and Bahamas bronze.
In the men’s Hammer Throw Michael Letterlough came seventh with a throw of 58.50m. Cuba won the gold and silver medal and Guatemala won the bronze.
In the 100m Men the Cayman duo of Kemar Hyman and Tyrell Cuffy failed to advance to the finals. They ran 10.42secs. and 10.53secs. respectively in the semis. Sprinters from Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados grabbed the medals.
