Cayman’s young rugby players are making such an impression that Michael Wilson has become the third local player to be selected for the West Indies squad.
Wilson, 19, is in a squad of 12 players that will compete in the Abbotsford Sevens in British Columbia, Canada from July 25-26.
He joins brothers Josh and Joel Clarke who received their call up a few weeks ago.
Wilson has been called up after his excellent performances in last week’s Under-19 Caribbean Championships in which Cayman retained their regional title.
Cayman beat Jamaica 28-22 in the semi-final and mexico in the final 18-8. Joel Clarke played in both games but Josh, at 20, is was too old.
The West Indies will be training with the Kenyan sevens team all next week and will likely then go on to compete against Kenya and Canada in the tournament.
