The Cayman Islands is gearing up to host the Caribbean Squash Championships next month in what will be another well organised event.
The Cayman Islands National Squash Association will host the best squash players from the Caribbean at South Sound Squash Club from August 17-22.
Over 100 athletes from the Caribbean are taking place, with teams from Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad and Bermuda taking on Cayman’s best.
Former world No.28 and Caribbean champion Nicolette Fernandes from Guyana has confirmed her attendance. The men are led by Barbados, including current Caribbean Champion Gavin Cumberbatch and Caribbean No.1 Shawn Simpson.
Simpson was in Cayman for the recent Cayman Open, making the final of the men’s event when he lost to Cayman youth coach Dean Watson. He has promised to come back for revenge.
