The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman has filled the vacant post of Vice President and General Manager of the resort.
Mr. Franz Ferschke, who has been Interim General Manager at the resort since March 2009, has accepted the post.
The post was left vacant and had been only filled on an interim basis following the departure of former General Manager Jean Cohen in April 2008.

‘Mr. Ferschke is both an Old World gentlemen hotelier and a savvy businessman who understands the evolving needs of luxury travellers. He is uniquely qualified to lead the resort into the next decade.’

In 2003, Mr. Ferschke joined The Ritz-Carlton as the opening General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach until 2005. Since then he has served as Interim General Manager at Ritz-Carlton properties including Atlanta Downtown, Atlanta Buckhead, Jamaica Rose Hall, South Beach, New York Battery Park and Central Park South.
Previously, Mr. Ferschke was the Regional Vice President for Marriott Hotels in Europe with responsibilities for more than 40 hotels in 18 countries. His professional career spans more than 30 years with Marriott International, where he began as the Executive Chef at the Marriott Newport Beach Marriott and Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona, then Food and Beverage Director at Marriott St. Louis and Harbor Beach Marriott resort; Regional Vice President of Operations for the Northeast Region of the United States, then Europe. He was appointed in 1994 to the General Manger position at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square in London.
A native of Munich, Germany, Mr. Ferschke holds a culinary hotel degree from the Hotelfachschule in Munich.
