Air Transport studies take off at UCCI

The Air Transport Management Programme will begin next month.

Starting on 12 October, 2009, the programme follows on from the Air Transport Management workshop held on 21 and 22 July at which leading members of organisations in the aviation industry and the Cayman Islands government attended.

After further consultation with the Department of Tourism and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands, it has been agreed that the programme will permit individuals directly or indirectly associated with the aviation industry in the Cayman Islands to attend one or a number of modules which may be of particular interest.

Those taking all the modules, including degree students selecting this as an elective, will have the opportunity to choose whether they receive a certificate of attendance or three credits towards their degree, said a press release.

The modules will include topics on the regulation, safety standards, economics, operation and marketing, impacting both the airline and airport sectors. The intent of the programme is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the industry, enabling them to implement a number of the key skills learned to the benefit of their respective organisations and companies.

UCCI has commenced discussions with both the International Air Transport Association and the Airports Council International to explore the possibility of working closely with these organisations for further programme development.
