Roof yoga stretches the fun

Cayman Sports has added a yoga instructor to its expanding group of sports and fitness instructors.

Chantelle Cooper will be teaching group yoga on the roof of the Grand Cayman Beach Suites, at the Beach and the Crescent at Camana Bay and will also be available for private yoga sessions at clients’ homes.

Cooper is excited by the opportunity to share an experience of yoga with her students at the fabulous outdoor locations.

‘They are such inspiring places to practice,’ she said. ‘Greeting the sunrise with sun salutations, feeling the cool ocean breeze, or closing the sunset classes with the final pose of deep relaxation, gazing up at the stars – it doesn’t get much better than that.’

Cooper has been practicing yoga for six years, and has noticed a remarkable change in her quality of life – increased energy, vitality and physical health along with contentment, patience, and peace of mind.

‘Yoga is about finding equilibrium, a balance of strength and flexibility in our bodies, our breath, and our minds.’

She completed her 500 Hour Professional Level Yoga Teacher Training at the world renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts.

There she was lucky enough to train with several experienced faculty members, studying all aspects of yoga from anatomy and physiology to philosophy and meditation.

Cooper guides students through creative posture flows where the breath is linked with movement – a mediation in motion.

She especially enjoys working with athletes.

‘Chantelle is a great addition to our team here at Cayman Sports,’ said head instructo Warren Urquhart. ‘The roof top yoga has been very popular and the key to its success is having stunning outdoor venues and a top quality instructor. We know Chantelle will be a big hit on the island.’
