Alphasoft far too strong

With only a couple of weeks left before the finals in the TeleCayman Squash Business League, last week’s matches were crucial for some teams to keep their finals hopes alive.

In A grade Aon weren’t able to field their top team and didn’t have the strength to get past Alphasoft. Janet Sairsingh did well to take a game off Barrel, but lost in four. Samson & McGrath continue to lead the competition, with their straight sets victory over the Caribbean champs putting Jody Jervis’s team in jeopardy of missing the finals.

In B Grade Bone Dry Photo had to bring in their reserves with their captain off island and the No.2 player Matt Taber still recovering from the broken collarbone after running into a wall. Chris Mann and Jason Zomok had a tough victory beating GM by 11 points on a countback.

Admiral Admin showed why they are one of the top B grade teams and in line for promotion to A grade with a straight sets victory over HSBC. Charlie’s Angels remained in the top 2 with a close victory over Krys/EFG Bank.

Six teams in B grade are still in position to make the semi finals. Deloitte’s victory over Cayman Physio tonight kept them in the hunt, with three teams now tied in fourth position

In C Grade Massive kept their finals hopes alive with a strong victory over a depleted Cayman Airways team. Tina Kirkaldy and Robert Berry had a dramatic five set battle with Tina winning 11-9 in the fifth, helping move her team into third place.

Samson & McGrath booked a place in the finals with a 3-0 victory over Digicel. Along with Fortis they’re clear at the top of the table and are virtually guaranteed a place in the top four.

TeleCayman had a good victory over Cayman27 to keep their finals chances alive, and have now caught Digicel in equal sixth position. With only three points separating the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh team this week’s matches are vital.
