Gender ruling

Caster Semenya, the athlete at the centre of a gender controversy, will be told by 20 November if she is eligible to compete as a woman.

A review of the South African’s gender test results by the IAAF will determine her future.

Semenya, 18, came to prominence when she won the 800m at the World Championships in Berlin in August.

She could be suspended, told to have surgery or cleared to run as a woman.
