New restaurant OsetraBay opens

Perched on the waterfront in Morgan’s Harbour and headed up by well-known restaurateur Mario Iacoviello, OsetraBay opened in Morgan’s Harbour last Tuesday.

Named after the rare caviar osetra caviar, OsetraBay provides a sophisticated, yet casual dining experience; modern, yet comfortable lounge and bar; open air dining. Cayman’s newest restaurant boasts views of the vast North Sound. Grand and offers intimate table settings and private cabanas for relaxed al fresco meals.

Mr. Iacoviello, formerly of Casanova’s, and his internationally-acclaimed team of chefs, wine stewards and service providers combine his trademark attention to detail and attentive service with an elegant, upscale yet comfortable dining atmosphere. OsetraBay has an ever-changing seasonal menu which is anything but ordinary.

Chef Jon, a graduate of the famous New York Culinary Institute, newly arrived from the highly acclaimed Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, together with his team of assistant chefs from Hungary, Houston and consultant adviser, Dominique Baraud, originally from Paris, have created a sophisticated international menu, which showcases an array of flavours, textures and colours infused with Caribbean ingredients.

‘Morgan’s Harbour is a special location. It is entrenched in the Caymanian lifestyle; is perched on the magnificent North Sound and allows OsetraBay to bring a truly unique restaurant to Grand Cayman,’ commented Michael Alberga, part owner of the establishment.

‘We recognise that food is an important element of the dining experience; but we know that ambiance, lighting and mood can enhance that experience. That is why, I was delighted to have my close friend, John Hurlstone of Hurlstone Construction, create, design and renovate the restaurant,’ he added.

‘John’s local knowledge of Cayman-both its people and weather-has permitted him to create a restaurant and ultra lounge which is sophisticated and relaxed. He has fused the St. Tropez/South Beach atmosphere with his native Caymanian background and created a truly outstanding restaurant, which allows arrival by car amidst fire and mist and arrival over the North Sound by boat.’

The bar and dining area both benefit from the North Sound’s cooling breezes. OsetraBay has focused on its incredible location and the open air dining, cooling breezes and white draperies billowing gently, and provides just the right amount of intimacy to create an incredible atmosphere for an intimate dinner for two, or a larger celebration.’
