With the annual event, Festival of Trees, currently on display at Camana Bay, and Celebrations’ and Vigoro Nursery’s much-anticipated Christmas store openings, the season has truly arrived.
Trees are the name of the game this week, as the Festival of Trees wraps up its annual festivities with an auction and gala dinner at Ristorante Pappagallo, when the 12 trees on display at Camana Bay this week will be auctioned off to loving holiday homes, all to raise funds for the Central Caribbean Marine Institute.
On Tuesday, Camana Bay will once again play home to the festivities with its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Now that the development’s newest locale, The Crescent, is open, the experience will be even more festive than last year.
The Crescent will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with thousands of fairy lights illuminating the town.
Entertainment will be provided by the Cayman National Choir and Orchestra at 6pm, who will perform an assortment of carols and Christmas music accompanied by children’s choirs from Cayman Prep and High School and Cayman International School. Song sheets will be provided for the audience to sing along to old time favourite carols.
Santa will make a special visit to switch on the tree lights and to distribute candy canes to well-behaved little ones.
Arranged for the same day is the quarterly Evening Market, with a Christmas theme this year as a variety of stalls along The Crescent will sell an array of local produce and crafts including several products from Junior Achievement companies.
The Camana Bay stores will have evening hours to allow for parents to get in some early Christmas shopping.
