Cayman International School has celebrated its class of 2025, with 63 students – the most ever – receiving their high school diplomas.

This year’s ceremony, held 30 May, marked the school’s 18th graduating class, with 100% of the seniors receiving their diplomas. At the school’s first graduation in 2008, there were just four students earning their high school degrees.

Jim Urquhart, CIS director, said in a press release, “We are incredibly proud that we have a 100% success rate that reflects the hard work of the students, our teachers, teaching assistants and the whole CIS team.

“The large number of students in this year’s cohort shows the growth and development of the school and the trust and belief that parents and students have in our ability to provide them with a high-quality education within a nurturing and progressive environment.”

He credited the school’s approach to teaching, coupled with CIS’ early-childhood to high-school facilities as “significant factors in the students’ academic success and in the success of the school overall.

“I believe that when highly motivated students are being taught by teachers committed to providing meaningful learning experiences through a guided inquiry approach which fosters critical thinking, the successes such as those at this year’s graduation are inevitable.”

All of the graduating students who applied to university were offered at least one placement with more than 150 offers in total, the press release said.

Of those students who applied to UK universities, 63% received offers from the Russell Group which includes the University of Liverpool, University of Leeds, University of Bristol and University of Edinburgh.

With summer break approaching, Urquhart and his team are looking forward to the next year’s intake, the press release said.

Limited places are still available for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. For more information go to the CIS website or email [email protected].
