Cayman International School, known as CIS, has opened applications for its Caymanian Citizenship Scholarship Programme for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The programme offers full and partial scholarships to eligible Caymanian students entering Grades 9, 10 or 11.
In a press release CIS said the scholarship reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting Caymanian students through increased access to high-quality education.
CIS Director Jim Urquhart said: “We offer this scholarship because we believe Caymanian students should have access to the full range of opportunities available at CIS. It allows us to support families, widen access and ensure that talented local students can benefit from the learning environment and values that shape our school.”
Eligible applicants must be Caymanian of parents born in the Cayman Islands or another Caribbean country or territory and demonstrate English proficiency. Additional merits such as character, leadership, scholastic achievement and community involvement also play a role in selection.
Scholarships are awarded for a minimum of two years and up to a maximum of four, starting at Grade 9. All scholarship students are required to participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme during Grades 11 and 12, ensuring they gain the academic preparation and critical thinking skills that the programme fosters, said the release.
Urquhart added, “These skills prepare them not only for university, but for meaningful contribution in Cayman and wherever their futures take them.”
Scholarship recipients are expected to uphold the standards of the CIS community by maintaining at least a ‘B’ average, taking part in a minimum of two school teams, clubs or activities each year, and modelling the CIS Mission and Community Principles in their daily interactions.
Limited placements are available and all applications must be submitted by 13 Feb. 2026. Families can view eligibility criteria and apply at www.cis.ky/admissions/apply.
