Rotaract PETS training

The Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman and Rotaract Blue came together for their first PETS (President Elect, Treasurer and Secretary) training at University College of the Cayman Islands on 21 November, 2009.

Both clubs showed strong support in numbers and participation. PETS is usually held as an off-island training programme for Rotaractors who would like to become more knowledgeable of the various roles in their organisation. However the sponsoring mother clubs Rotary Sunrise, which sponsors the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman, and Rotary Central, which sponsors Rotaract Blue, decided that for the benefit of those who were unable to travel, it would be hosted in Cayman.

The sessions took place at the University College of the Cayman Islands. When members arrived they were greeted by their fellow Rotaractors and mentor Rotarians. The Rotaractors were broken up into two groups so that all avenues would be covered in their appropriate times.

Within these groups Rotarians taught the Rotaractors the fundamental responsibilities and roles that various directors played in the Roataract organisation. The entire programme lasted about five hours with each avenue having an hour session.

In the end the Rotaractors found the programme to be both educational and enjoyable as they felt honoured to be a part of the first PETS programme to ever take place in the Cayman Islands.
