Track kids get more practice

In continuation of the preparation for the CARIFTA Games the Cayman Islands Athletic Association will be hosting its second track and field development meet of the season on Saturday.

It starts at 9am at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. The first one was held last week.

Cayman expects around 600 athletes for the CARIFTA Games over the Easter weekend next year, 3-5 April.

Cayman will have its strongest squad for years to take advantage of home soil. Their likeliest medallists are Ashleigh Nalty (long and high jump), Alexandra Terry (discus and possibly javelin), Travis Webb (long and high jump) and Chantelle Morrison (100 metres).

These build up meets not only serve as preparation for the athletes, but also for the many officials who will be assisting at the CARIFTA Games. The meet is set for age groups 13-14, 15-16, 17 and over.
