Inclement weather has cancelled the regularly scheduled British Airways flight to Cayman on Wednesday.
A notice on the British Airways website indicated that flight 253 was among the many flights affected.
‘We have cancelled a number of flights today and there have been significant delays due to snow and the current icy conditions,’ the airlines statement read. ‘You are advised to check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport.’
The cancellation occurred after some travelers heading for Grand Cayman had already arrived at Heathrow Airport on connecting flights. At least one of these travelers was told the next available BA flight to Cayman was Tuesday, 19 January.
People who were heading for Cayman on today’s flight will have two choices: to either re-book their flight to Cayman on another available flight within the next 14 days, or to cancel the ticket and claim a refund.
The cancellation will also affect visitors and residents who were going to travel to London from Grand Cayman on the return flight.
The next scheduled BA flight from Grand Cayman to London is Friday evening.
Efforts to reach a British Airways representative in Cayman were unsuccessful and the automated voice message made no mention of the cancellation.
