After 16 weeks of hard work, three
shrinking individuals have made it to the finals of the Cayman Heart Fund’s
second annual weight loss competition, War on Weight.
Laura Johnston, Andrea Myles and
Hendrick Oosthuizen were named the WOW finalists at a Red Sail Sports sunset
cruise recently after losing weight and body fat.
Vice president of the WOW
committee, Summer La Rue, who came in second place in last year’s competition,
said she and her fellow committee members were impressed by the passion and
commitment of this year’s finalists.
“They have inspired each other,
their supporters, and other members of the community to do something about
their health and that is the main goal of the programme.
“We wish them continued success in
their endeavours,” said Ms La Rue.
Ms Johnston, Ms Myles and Mr. Oosthuizen
were among 15 competitors who began their journey towards better health and
weight loss at the end of last August.
The contest consisted of a rigorous
workout programme, a customised diet plan, professional medical supervision,
and health-conscious choices.
To ensure the safety of the
contestants, doctors John Addleson and Marli Ellis conducted an initial blood
test examining cholesterol, thyroid and sugar levels, sponsored by Sagicor
General Insurance and Cayman Health Laboratories. Nutritionist Chad Collins provided dietary
guidance and Ernest Ebanks of Body Sculptor created a flexible exercise regime
including Boot Camp five times a week.
Each of the three finalists received
one-month unlimited yoga passes from Bliss Living and Yoga in the Marquee
The winner will be announced at the
Cayman Heart Foundation’s annual Red Dress Gala at the Westin Casuarina on Saturday,

of the WOW committee on their work.
