The Cayman Islands National Squash
Association is gearing up for the annual crowning of the national champions.
The 2010 Massive Nationals begin on
20 February and over 120 participants are expected in the most important tournament
on Cayman’s squash calendar, with men’s and women’s A, B and C grades, vets and
Massive have been involved in the
sponsorship of the squash championships for nine years.
Christina Kirkaldy, one of the director’s
of Massive Equipment and a keen squash player herself is delighted to be a part
of the 2010 event. “We’re very pleased to once again support this event
and help stage such an important tournament,” she said.”
The men’s championships is expected
to be a battle between reigning champion Dean Watson and youngsters Cameron
Stafford and Jake Kelly. Stafford and Kelly were the finalists in the 2009 Club
Championships, but have yet to beat Watson in a major tournament.
Women’s champion last year was Marlene
West who is the hot favourite to win her seventh title.
These championships will be an
excellent barometer to gauge everyone’s form for the Cayman Open in April in a
glasshouse arena in Camana Bay.
