The Travel Professionals of Colour
Conference and Tradeshow will take place in Nassau, Bahamas
between 22 and 25 April.
The event has been running annually
for the last seven years, and organisers say that travel professionals selling
heritage tourism products who ‘have the ear’ of millions of African-American
and minority travellers’ will be convening for the trade show.
According to the
TPOC, $90 billion is spent annually by this sector on travel. A high percentage
of that is spent on heritage tourism, a branch of tourism that leans toward the
cultural heritage of a location or attraction. Heritage tourism travellers,
said the TPOC, tend to extend vacations in order to visit heritage sites and
trails and to experience a connection with the local culture.
