Association National Women’s League.
At 6:15pm regular season champs
Dominos Lady Heels seek to cool off a suddenly hot Welly’s Cool Spot. At 8:15pm
the Home Gas Flames look to survive a dogfight with the Silver Bullets.
Dominos finished atop the league at
6-1 after beating Home Gas in the regular season finale.
Leading the charge was the triple
threat of Dionne Anglin, Benecia Thompson and Sarah Kidd. All have dominated on
both ends of the court and are playing on an MVP level.
Meanwhile Welly’s have rattled off
two straight wins, their first winning streak in history. A trend has been the
stand-out play of Letanya Thompson (12.5ppg) and Christina McLean (13.5ppg).
In the other match-up Home Gas were
the regular season runner-ups at 4-3. The side allowed the fewest points (340
or about 48.6 per game). Leading that charge was Cassiane Lawrence who is among
the league leaders in blocks, steals and scoring.
The Silver Bullets meanwhile ended
the year 3-4. The side had many positive showings though as they handed Dominos
their lone defeat. Leading the side has been star players Bobeth O’Garro and Scimone
Campbell thanks to their leadership, hustle and scoring.
After tonight’s single elimination
playoffs the best-of-three league finals start on Sunday at 6pm. Game two is
next Thursday and game three, if necessary, is next Sunday.
Dominos coach Collin Anglin urges
the public to watch tonight’s matches.
“I encourage the public to come out
and support women’s basketball. Come with the family and support a team because
it’s a good family atmosphere. All of the ladies have worked very hard to get
to this point.”
