Preston Onfroy Media man

 There is a
buzz going on. It’s in the air! It’s on the air! It’s everywhere! Oww! Ay -the
news is hot! Cool it, cool it, cool it! Cyaan Cool!

Hot 104.1fm,
the Station that’s rocking the nation, has recently added more spice and heat
to the pot and now it’s sizzling hot and smelling good too!

Preston Onfroy
is a young man who hails from Mandeville, Jamaica. However, his age belies the
fact that he is a seasoned veteran in the music biz and now he has joined the
DMS Broadcasting team, bringing to the table
a musical buzz, what with his wealth of experience  in Engineering, music production, on-air charisma
and a virtually endless connection within the rhythmic realms. This man seems
to know everyone that’s anyone.

I can never
over use the old adage, “children live what they learn”! Preston grew up on a
steady diet of sweet musical cuisine, spiced up with every genre with a sweet
beat! Coupled with his growing love for music was a propensity to dissemble
anything electrical, explore it’s parts and put it back together. Thus his
course was set. He was ordained to become a studio engineer. On this he taught
himself well but later sharpened his skills at University of Technology in
Jamaica (UTECH) and in 1993 joined Mandeville’s classy KLAS FM on a summer job
project as Studio Engineer. He has never looked back since. That position
became permanent and he gave the popular Station, memories that do not leave
like people do, endearing himself to their files of important people, by
enriching it with his skills and dedication to the trade.

During his
tenure with KLAS they had moved to Kingston and in 1998 Irie FM heard of his
talents and whisked him away. By this time he had become adept at producing
winning commercials and exciting Jingles. Irie FM was feeling so irie that they
immediately made him Chief Studio Engineer at Zip FM another arm of that media
family. He zipped them to new heights with a program he hosted called Zip
Dreams – and the beat goes on!

He joined
RJR’s communication’s group and hosted a Television program called Intense,
bringing all the sizzle,  nizzle and the
hot fizzle of every hot Jamaican artiste to the fore, whilst he also continued
to contribute his on-air persona to that radio station.

By this time,
Preston had stepped up his game, yet one more notch. He started his own record
label, In Time Music and became a Producer to be reckoned with, blazing up the
dancehall with mad rhythms like Party Time and Jump Off Riddm, producing
artistes like Capleton, Elephant Man, Bounti Killa, Vybz Kartel, Cecile, Lady
Saw and too many more.

Preston, a
born pioneer, after having conquered many frontiers, wanted new challenges so
he set his sights on Grand Cayman, thus joining DMS Broadcasting and is now
hosting two shows that are being talked about in the streets, Good Morning
Cayman 5am to 7am and the hottest thing, Saturday Roll Out 10am to 3pm on
Saturdays where listeners are treated to the hottest, up-to-the-minute tunes
and news of artistes in and around the region.

Mad! Turn the
radio on!
