Scimone’s props

An all star cast took centre stage last
Sunday to showcase their talent and to celebrate women.

After nine challenging and highly
competitive rounds of regular season play, the Cayman Islands Basketball Association’s
competitions committee had the arduous task of selecting the top 20 females of
the CIREBA National Women’s Basketball League 2010.

They ended up choosing the top four
point guards, shooting guards, small forwards, power forwards and centers based
on statistics for the season. All stormed the court of the Arts and Recreation Center
at Camana Bay.

The All Star White team led the
entire way but the All Star Blue squad crept back into the match slowly. With
20 seconds to go Bobeth O’Garro of Silver Bullets nailed a three to put the
Blue team on top.

Scimone Campbell sealed the win in
the final seconds by stealing an inbound pass meant for Kamilla Nagy of Dominos
Lady Heels and taking home the Most Valuable Player award for the night.

After the game Campbell would receive her glass trophy fromCayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association
representative Michael Day.

The final score would read All Star
Blue 59, All Star White 58.

Leading the way for All Star White
was Kamilla Nagy with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. La-torae Nixon
added 10 points and six rebounds while Dionne Anglin finished with nine points,
12 rebounds and five steals.

Scimone Campbell walked away with
Most Valuable Player honours for the night as she led the Blue team with 12
points, 14 rebounds and three assists. Lauren Keller had a solid 10 point,
eight rebound performance and Christsania Mclean finished with seven points and
18 rebounds.

Now the ladies have
their eyes fixed on a championship as the first game of the best-of-three
league finals takes place this Sunday at 6pm.
