Cydonie feels special

Olympic sprinter Cydonie Mothersill
feels special for being included as one of the Honouring Women’s Month
recipients for praise.

She has been at the forefront of
local women’s sprinting since blazing a trail in the CARIFTA Games in the
Nineties.

Mothersill, 32, said: “I feel
really honoured to be included with a lot of prestigious ladies. I think it’s a
great thing because we women do a lot of things and often times we don’t
recognised and if we do then it’s often played down. So I think it’s awesome
that we’re being recognised.

“One of the benefits sports has
given me is discipline. I’m very disciplined. I know what I want and I don’t
care what the naysayers say, I just go after it. I may fall short but I always
know that I tried and I’m satisfied with that.

“Even if it’s not sport as a
career, youngsters have to know what they want and be prepared to make the
personal sacrifice.”
