Visitors had smashing time at Eggmania

Eggmania
2010, Cayman Prep’s annual fundraising Easter fair, was held in the grounds and
hall of the Infant department on Walkers Road, Saturday, 20 March.

The
relaxed family-friendly event, though not as busy as previous years, enjoyed a
healthy turnout with most young visitors eager to try their skills at Easter
egg hunting. Several lucky hunters struck gold and added a golden egg to their
baskets to win cinema tickets donated by Hollywood Theatre.

The
school hall housed a plant booth, cake stalls, a craft kiosk and a well-stocked
secondhand book stall. Visitors milled round stopping for refreshments and many
cakes were bought to take home. Others bought pot plants and armsful of
inexpensive books.

For
those with energy to burn there were two bouncy castles, Nerf sharp shooter and
a football shoot out area. Hot and happy, several children cooled off in the
dunk tank on the school playing field, which did brisk business judging by the
patient queue of wet and giggling children.

Those
who wanted to sit and watch their children play sat on benches and tables in
the shade of the classroom verandas. Several bought refreshments and
hamburgers, local sausages and hotdogs for a leisurely bite to eat.

PTA
treasurer and member of the Eggmania coordination committee Lynn Johnson was
pleased by how well the four-hour event went.

This
year’s Eggmania was held to raise monies to fund various PTA initiatives at
both campuses that will enhance both the schools’ academic and recreational
facilities.
